September 2023 Student of the Month
Updated

Our Student of the Month for September is an 8th grader at the Godley Station K-8 school.  Reading her multiple nominations was inspiring!    Our scholar is ranked #1 in her class at Godley Station.  Although she carries a high A average in every class, this student continues to push herself.  As a 7th grader, she went from the 9th to the 10th grade level on the i-Ready reading diagnostic meeting 300% of progress towards her Stretch Growth Goal.    One of her nominators wrote that she “exemplifies the characteristics of an outstanding student and school citizen.  Her contributions both in and outside of the classroom set her apart.  She is an avid reader, a remarkable writer, a talented artist, and a quick-thinking mathematician.  She has a golden heart as well, including humility and a sincere desire to help others.”  She is a member of the school's Art Portfolio Course, Chess Club, BETA Club, Math Team, and DEEP.  Outside of school, she swims for the Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team and volunteers at the Loaves and Fishes food pantry.  When asked what motivates her for academic success, our student replied, “To be able to achieve my dreams, because I have a lot!”

We are proud to announce the Superintendent’s Student of the Month for September 2023 is Raegan Smykla!  Congratulations to Raegan, her family, and the faculty and staff of Godley Station K8 School!  Special thanks to nominators Kimberly Polite-Heyward, Tameca Johnson, and Suzanne Campbell.    Raegan is taking home multiple gifts from our community partners – Members First Credit Union, Advertising Specialties, Georgia United Credit Union, Savannah State University, Gulfstream, Plant Riverside District Gelato, Savannah Music Festival, and Bahama Joes. Raegan and students of her English/Language Arts class will receive printed copies of his favorite book The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins from our sponsor E. Shaver Booksellers.  Lastly, Raegan will take home a portrait by Upscale Photography provided by Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.
